This position will conduct technical and specialized scientific research with high resolution mass spectrometry; developing new methodology; analyzing data; and managing a scientific user facility.
Education or Equivalency Required: A master’s degree in analytical chemistry specializing in mass spectrometry or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications:
3 years of hands-on experience operating mass spectrometry instrumentation in a research or analytical laboratory.
Knowledge of mass spectrometry methods and instrumentation.
Demonstrated ability to independently design, develop, optimize, and validate experimental methods for varied applications.
Demonstrate job-related experience with fostering a welcoming and respectful work environment.
Demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
Highly Desirable Qualifications:
Knowledge of both liquid chromatography and gas chromatography; sample introduction methods; and sample preparation methods.
Experience managing staff and with lab safety procedures.
A PhD degree in analytical chemistry specializing in mass spectrometry or related field.
Proven experience with MS instrumentation (e.g., LC-MS/MS, high-resolution MS), including troubleshooting and maintenance.
Desirable Qualifications:
Successful funding of multi-user shared instrumentation grants or other research grants.
