Alpha-9 Theranostics is a clinical stage, radiopharmaceutical company developing imaging and therapeutic molecules for solid and hematologic malignancies. Position Summary:
Alpha-9 is seeking a Senior Scientist, Radiochemistry to join our growing organization. The ideal candidate will have experience developing radiolabeling, and analytical methods for targeted, peptide-based radiopharmaceuticals. This person will be responsible for developing and delivering novel radiolabeled diagnostic and therapeutic compounds for both pre-clinical and clinical applications.
This position requires a high degree of collaboration, multi-tasking ability, and desire to strive in a fast-paced environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the build-out and set-up of new laboratory facilities, interface with external partners, and mentor more junior staff.
Responsibilities:
- Develop radiolabeling and manufacturing methods for compounds with imaging and therapeutic applications
- Work in multidisciplinary teams to define development project goals and timelines
- Design and conduct radiochemistry experiments leading to robust radiolabeling processes and clinical formulations that meet target product profiles
- Develop quality control procedures, analytical methods, and specifications for radiopharmaceuticals/API
- Perform technology transfer of radiolabeling and analytical methods to third party CRO and CDMO partners
- Support pre-clinical development by radiolabeling compounds for in vitro and in vivo evaluation
- Troubleshoot, identify unusual results, and design experiments that establish root cause and/or enhance knowledge of the product being developed
- Write necessary SOPs, development reports, test method protocols, batch records, and regulatory documentation
- Set up and maintain automated chemistry modules and laboratory equipment
- Conduct area radiation surveys, contamination control, and radioactive waste management
- Demonstrate good safety practices and ensure radioprotection standards are upheld
Requirements
- PhD/MSc in Radiochemistry, Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Nuclear Engineering or equivalent knowledge or experience
- 5+ years of experience with academic and/or commercial radiopharmaceutical development and production
- Hands on experience in radiolabeling with radioisotopes used for imaging and therapeutic applications; experience with alpha emitters is a plus
- Ability to plan and execute complex scientific projects
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for development of radiopharmaceuticals
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, identify unusual results and design experiments that establish root cause
- Excellent observational, organizational, data management, and documentation skills
- A team player with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong passion for the discovery of targeted therapies in a fast-paced start-up environment
