
Description
We're inviting an experienced chemist to join our growing analytical chemistry department in GPAL (www.gpalab.com) in Kansas City, MO. This position will be responsible for performing analysis of tests on samples from nutraceutical, agricultural, food and beverage products using GC/GC-MS, HPLC/HPLC-MS/MS and other instrumentation needed to meet business needs. In addition to the routine testing, the analytical chemist will work on developing and validation of new analytical methods under the laboratory’s ISO 17025 scope of accreditation, maintaining analytical equipment, continuously improving existing analytical methods to meet growing customer demands.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of analytical chemistry sufficient to carry out complex analysis and electronic data processing.
- Hands-on expertise in operating, maintaining and troubleshooting LCMS triple quad instruments is essential.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships inside and outside of the organization.
- Conducts literature searches and interpret/adapt published analytical methods.
- Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory. Performs preventative maintenance on instrumentation as needed.
- Provide training and positive leadership to laboratory technicians and serves as a resource for routine testing questions.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment, able to handle multiple tasks, capable of prioritizing and planning work activities.
- Doctorate (Ph.D.) or M.S. degree in biology, chemistry, or related field with a research emphasis on mass spectrometry or chromatography applications.
